| Abstract |
In a small number of trials, large nymphs of Sipyloidea sipylus (Westwood) were offered to three species of amphibians. Non-moving prey were ignored by all the predators. Phasmids which moved were eaten by only one species of amphibian. Results suggest that the chemical defences ofS. sipylus offer little protection against amphibian predators but remaining immobile is an effective defence. |
